🇩🇪 German media market headed for record high

According to a forecast from the industry association VAUNET, the German audiovisual media market will exceed the €16 billion mark for the first time in 2025 (expected €16.2 billion, a growth of 3.3%).

The growth is entirely driven by the digital and paid segments.

Key Trends:

▪️ Paid Content (streaming, Pay TV, audio subscriptions) will grow by 6.7%, exceeding €8 billion for the first time.
▪️ Paid Video on Demand (Netflix, Disney+) will grow by 9% to €3.7 billion.
▪️ Paid Audio Subscriptions will grow by 10% to €2.2 billion.
▪️ Advertising will remain almost stable, growing by only 0.2% to €6.1 billion.
▪️ Traditional TV advertising will continue to fall (forecast -7% to €3.3 billion).
▪️ Video Streaming advertising will show strong growth (+15% to €1.9 billion).
▪️ Audio advertising (radio and streaming) will grow by 2.5%.

VAUNET Chairman Frank Giersberg emphasized that market growth is being constrained by the challenging economic situation and the “alarming increase in market power of global Big Tech companies.”
