🌮 Food Tastes Better in Front of the TV

A study on snacking habits showed that the majority of Brits (90%) enjoy their food the most when relaxing in front of the television on the sofa, rather than in the kitchen or at a desk.

Charles Spence, an Oxford University scientist, explains this with brain chemistry: when we are in a good mood (for example, relaxing on the sofa after completing tasks), our brain releases dopamine.

The setting can change the perception of food taste by 15–20%. Taste sensations are influenced by lighting, temperature, the softness of the sofa, and even clothing.

Ideal Sofa Snacks (According to the Survey):

🔸Chocolate (64%);
🔸Cheese and onion flavored chips (36%);
🔸Chocolate cookies (35%).

The best accompaniment for a snack was determined to be dramas (28%) or comedy films (27%).

Spence also added that although many enjoy snacking alone, eating in the company of loved ones can make the experience even more enjoyable, as social interaction reduces stress and enhances taste.
