๐ฎ๐น๐บ Smart TVs account for 40% of TV viewing in Italy
According to a Sensemakers study, nearly 40% of all TV viewing in Italy occurs on connected devices. There are over 22 million Smart TVs in the country's households, accounting for more than 50% of all television sets.
Despite the growth of Smart TVs, traditional general-interest channels remain the preferred starting point for 53% of all viewers, a figure that increases with age.
Even on Smart TVs, almost a third of viewers prefer general content, and only 15% watch streaming services exclusively. During prime time, linear TV (47%) retains its dominance.
The situation is reversed among the youngest audience (4-17 years old): 34% watch streaming platforms exclusively, while only 27% choose traditional channels.
Suggestions from platforms (Netflix, Prime Video) are becoming more important than the remote control, influencing the choices of 50% of viewers.
Major events, such as the Sanremo Festival and sports matches, ensure a high share of linear TV viewing.
