🧠 YouTube boosts TV viewing experience

The platform has announced a major update for TV screens, aimed at enhancing the quality of low-resolution content.

Videos with resolutions from 240p to 720p will now be automatically upscaled to HD (1080p) using AI. Support for upscaling to 4K is planned for the future.

Unlike other TV platforms, YouTube is providing creators and viewers with the option to opt out of AI enhancements to avoid unwanted distortions. The original video files will remain unchanged.

The maximum size of thumbnails (previews) will increase from 2MB to 50MB to support 4K resolution images.

When searching from a channel page, priority will be given to content specifically from that creator, rather than the entire platform.

In videos with product tags, viewers will be able to scan a QR code on the TV screen to go to the product page and make a purchase.

The updates are designed to make the big-screen viewing experience more high-quality and interactive.
