📺 French TV Faces Rising Transmission Fees
The French Audiovisual Sector Association (LaFA) has warned that, starting in 2026, public and private broadcasters may face a sharp increase in DTT (TNT) carriage costs, according to Broadband TV News.
TDF, the country’s broadcast infrastructure operator, plans to raise its rates unless the R3 multiplex capacity (formerly used by Canal+) is filled quickly. The regulator Arcom has delayed the tender, citing a “sluggish” advertising market, which is expected to decline by 1.7% annually through 2030.
The tariff hike will coincide with a €70.9 million reduction in state funding and the extension of the windfall profits levy.
LaFA is urging the government to intervene immediately to prevent the increase, warning that higher fees would punish broadcasters by reducing their investment in programming, film production, and digital development.
