▶️ Kion Moves to Its Own Video Hosting Platform
Online cinema Kion has fully completed its migration to a proprietary video platform, abandoning the use of a third-party vendor solution. This shift has given the service technological independence from foreign software.
The new platform, capable of handling over 80,000 requests per second, has improved infrastructure resilience and accelerated the rollout of new features. The migration was seamless, thanks in part to a custom-built component that replicates the external platform’s API, ensuring compatibility with legacy devices.
For media storage, Kion uses Object Storage from MWS Cloud Platform.
According to Alexey Arefiev, Director of Digital Development, Kion now has full control over the technological foundation of its product — from personalization to scalability.
