🏴‍☠️ Illegal Streaming Costs Britons Thousands of Pounds

A BeStreamWise (UK) study revealed a stark contrast between the illusory savings and the real financial losses caused by illegal online content consumption.

Viewers using pirate sources save just £13.38 (€14.77) per month on average.

However, 39% of those who accessed illegal streams suffered financial losses due to cybercriminals — with an average stolen amount of £1,680, which is 950% higher than the annual savings.

65% of illegal streamers encountered security threats such as malware and phishing pop-ups.

According to ethical hacker Rob Shapland, criminals exploit illegal streams and modified devices to steal personal data and gain access to bank accounts.

Detective Emma Warby stressed that illegal streaming is a false economy — it exposes users to data theft, fraud, and cybercrime, while also harming the entertainment industry.
