Research from Hub Entertainment Research revealed that despite the popularity of bundled offerings, viewers still struggle to discover new content — and YouTube is becoming the main “audience absorber.”

60% of the “new favorite shows” viewers discovered over the past year are older, multi-season series. Among young adults aged 16–34, this figure reaches 65%.

Streaming service recommendations proved less effective for discovering new favorites than personal suggestions, trailers, and traditional advertising.

Nearly 8 out of 10 YouTube users — and 90% among ages 16–34 — say they often or sometimes switch to YouTube when they can’t find anything interesting on streaming platforms.
