📱 Kion Launches Micro-Production
The online cinema platform Kion has announced the launch of its own production of original projects in a vertical format (9:16).
The initiative aims to develop the microdrama format in Russia — series with episodes of up to two minutes, ideal for mobile viewing.
The platform has released its first vertical-format sketch comedy, “Careful, Kulik!”, starring Evgeny Kulik. It is also actively adapting popular Originals series — such as the comedies “Two,” “Where’s the Other Sock?” and “Devyataev” — to the vertical format.
In addition to producing its own content, Kion has acquired more than 50 vertical microdramas from partners.
A dedicated shelf for vertical content has already been added to the “Microdramas” section of the app. A separate section fully devoted to the 9:16 format will appear soon.
Kion representatives note that popular microdramas — primarily melodramas and action stories — keep viewers engaged for an average of 30 minutes per day.
