⚽️ Paramount+ Is Redrawing Europe’s TV Landscape

The shift of UEFA Champions League broadcast rights in the UK to Paramount+ starting in 2027 has become part of a major global reshuffle affecting key European markets.

Paramount+ has emerged as a new powerhouse, securing the main rights package for the Champions League from 2027 to 2031 in the UK. The streamer has obtained a similarly large package in Germany.

In the UK, Amazon Prime Video retained its Tuesday “first-pick” package, while Sky Sports secured all Europa League and Conference League matches.

While Northern Europe is undergoing a major shift, major broadcasters in Southern Europe have maintained their positions. In France, Canal+ extended its exclusive rights to 100% of UEFA club competitions through the end of the 2030/31 season.

In Spain, Telefónica (Movistar Plus+) renewed rights to all UEFA competitions until 2031 for €1.46 billion per year.

Italy continues with its shared-broadcasting model: Sky Italia remains the main pay-TV broadcaster, while Amazon Prime Video keeps its Wednesday “first-pick” package.
