🎞 Lenfilm to Transfer Into Ownership of St. Petersburg
The President of Russia has signed a decree transferring 100% of the shares of Lenfilm Studio — currently owned by the Federal Agency for State Property Management — into the ownership of St. Petersburg.
The government has been instructed to complete the transfer within six months.
In January, the St. Petersburg Filmmakers’ Union asked the authorities to hand the studio over to the city, arguing that “managers sent from Moscow” had failed to pull Lenfilm out of crisis. According to the Union, the city’s authorities would be able to oversee the studio’s management more effectively.
Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova had previously opposed such a move, insisting that the ministry should remain the studio’s supervising body.
