🛰 Tricolor is Building Its Own Teleport

The operator Tricolor plans to launch its own teleport by the end of 2025, with an estimated cost of over 400 million rubles. The facility is expected to be located in Krasnoyarsk.

This project is the first greenfield teleport among commercial TV operators in Russia. It will enable uplink to the Express-AT1 satellite (broadcasting to the Urals and Siberia), providing full control over the signal and protection against external interference originating in the European part of Russia.

However, Tricolor will still not be able to completely discontinue services provided by GCCS. The new teleport does not support the 36°E orbital position (broadcasting to European Russia).

Signal uplink for the European region will continue to be handled from the Skolkovo teleport (GCCS), which means that part of the broadcast remains exposed to previous risks.

Tricolor CEO Denis Filipishen described the launch of the teleport as a strategic step that ensures technological sovereignty and cost savings.
