🔍 People Can’t Tell AI-Generated Content From Real

Every fifth resident of Russia (21%) regularly encounters AI-generated content. At the same time, 43% of respondents admitted they cannot distinguish a deepfake from material created by a human.

These findings come from a study by NAFI.

43% of Russians are unsure in their ability to identify a deepfake, although 72% say they have already come across AI-generated content.

Only 31% of respondents are familiar with the correct definition of deepfake. Half of those surveyed mistakenly describe this technology as a “bot,” “video editing,” or “retouching.”

Previously, 57% of Russians admitted they could not tell an AI assistant from a live operator during a conversation.

Experts urge caution, noting that the number of deepfake attacks may rise to several hundred thousand in 2025.
