🇮🇹 “Streamcasting” is gaining momentum in Italy
According to data from Ce.R.T.A., the Italian television landscape is moving toward streamcasting—a hybrid model combining traditional broadcasting with online streaming.
The trend is driven by the widespread adoption of Smart TVs and the transition to Auditel’s new Total Audience measurement standard, which now includes digital viewership.
Average daily TV consumption has dropped only slightly—by 1.2% (–100,000 viewers). Prime-time viewership remains stable at 19.6 million.
Average viewing time has changed marginally, standing at 3 hours and 17 minutes per day.
OTT platforms (Netflix, YouTube) grew by 1.7%, now accounting for 18.8% of total consumption—about 45 minutes per viewer per day.
Streaming consumption among viewers aged 65+ increased by 10.5%.
The backbone of traditional broadcasting remains unscripted entertainment, which continues to grow on linear channels.
