🕶 Google Glass to Return Next Year
Google has officially announced its second attempt to enter the smart glasses market: the company will release its first AI-powered models in 2026.
Google plans to launch two product categories:
🦻 Audio version – designed for interaction with the Gemini voice AI assistant
👁 Display version – with a lens-embedded screen for real-time prompts, navigation, and translations
The glasses will run on Android XR, Google’s operating system for extended-reality devices.
To accelerate the rollout, Google has partnered with Samsung and leading eyewear brands — South Korea’s Gentle Monster and U.S. manufacturer Warby Parker.
Google is aiming to take a position in the rapidly expanding market, which grew 110% in the first half of 2025 alone.
Co-founder Sergey Brin noted that the original Google Glass project, discontinued in 2023, failed largely because AI technology wasn’t mature enough at the time. Now, he says, the company believes neural models have reached a level where they can power truly autonomous and useful devices.
