🎓 Where to Find Talent That Doesn’t Exist

Gregory Kuzin, Director of Media Platforms at MSK-IX, explained in an op-ed column why the media market no longer has enough “just engineers” and how companies can cultivate specialists “at the intersection of competencies” themselves.

The main challenge facing today’s media industry is the disappearance of boundaries between media, IT, and telecom. Narrow specialists can no longer keep up. What’s needed are “hybrids” who speak two professional languages and understand the entire chain—from content to delivery.

The market now demands professionals with a new, holistic mix of competencies, such as “Media Services Architect,” “Data Media Scientist,” or “Neuro-Creator.”

The problem will only intensify as AI continues to advance. Leaders must stop waiting for ideal specialists to appear on the market and instead make hybrid roles a deliberate part of their strategy by investing in upskilling their teams.

“We’re not looking for an encyclopedia—we’re looking for curiosity about the ‘other side’ and for a willingness for a tech specialist to become a creator, or vice versa,” Kuzin notes.
