🐭 Disney and OpenAI Join Forces

The Walt Disney Company has become the first major content partner for OpenAI’s generative video platform Sora, opening new possibilities for storytelling.

Disney is investing $1 billion in OpenAI and will become a major customer, using OpenAI’s API to create new products (including for Disney+), new tools, and by integrating ChatGPT for its employees.

Under the three-year agreement, Sora will be able to generate short videos and images using more than 200 animated characters from the Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars universes. The list will include costumes, props, vehicles, and iconic locations.

The deal does not include the use of real actors’ likenesses or voices.

Sora and ChatGPT Images are expected to begin generating fan content featuring licensed characters in early 2026.

Both companies emphasized their shared commitment to the responsible use of AI, protecting creators’ rights, and preventing the generation of illegal or harmful content.
