🛍 AI Has Learned to Insert Ads Into Movies in Real Time
A project called Halftime won at xAI’s hackathon (Elon Musk’s AI venture). The project uses the Grok AI model for a revolutionary — and unsettling — approach to advertising.
Halftime can generate product placements directly inside scenes of movies or TV shows in real time.
The algorithm performs deep analysis of context, lighting, and plot, then seamlessly inserts a segment where characters begin interacting with the advertised product.
The generation takes character behavior into account: characters may start praising the product using their usual voices and speech patterns. The insertion looks like a natural part of the script, and the story continues without noticeable cuts.
The technology can be applied not only to new productions but also to existing ones. For example, the characters of Friends could advertise modern gadgets that didn’t exist when the show was filmed.
