🤖 Viewers of Vertical Micro-Dramas Reject AI

A study by Deadline found that the most engaged viewers of vertical micro-dramas watch them daily (64%) and choose projects based on the participation of their favorite actors.

At the same time, fans are rejecting AI-generated content.

More than 70% of respondents said they would avoid micro-dramas created by artificial intelligence, describing AI performances as “lifeless, emotionless, and robotic.” Only 5.6% said they would be willing to watch AI-generated content if it had a strong storyline.

Viewers want to see attractive male leads rather than AI actors.

The most popular genres are romantic comedies and romantic dramas. Nearly 44% believe that romance is “essential” to dramatic storytelling.

57% of viewers feel that there is “too much” violence in vertical dramas.

Almost 65% first discovered micro-dramas through social media, and 63% say they now watch short-form dramas more often, citing the engaging format and higher-quality acting.
