Google has removed dozens of videos created with artificial intelligence from YouTube following a formal copyright compliance demand from Disney.
The unlicensed content generated using generative AI tools included characters from major franchises such as Deadpool, Moana, Mickey Mouse, and Star Wars characters.
Google stated that it adheres to intellectual property protection rules, and that YouTube’s algorithms identify copyright violators.
This incident reflects a tougher stance by major media companies, which are increasingly pushing for the removal of AI-generated content created without commercial agreements.
Disney is developing licensed partnerships with AI model developers. Recently, the studio allowed the Sora neural network to generate videos featuring its characters, clearly separating legal projects from the unauthorized use of its intellectual property.
