🚫 YouTube to Be Blocked in Russia Within a Year

YouTube may be fully restricted in Russia within the next 6–12 months. This was stated by Andrey Svintsov, Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.

According to Svintsov, the full restriction is due to the video platform “continuing to ignore current Russian legislation.”

Restrictions imposed by Roskomnadzor (RKN) will be introduced gradually until YouTube is completely pushed out.

Earlier, reports emerged from subscribers in St. Petersburg that access to the service had been fully blocked at the request of RKN.

The lawmaker urged everyone who uses the platform to promote content to move as quickly as possible to Russian alternatives such as Rutube and VK Video.

“Content should be promoted on Russian platforms or on those that do not take actions against Russia and our citizens,” Svintsov emphasized.
