🤝 Deal to Sell TikTok in the U.S. Finalized
TikTok’s U.S. operations will officially change ownership in 2026. The platform will come under the control of a joint venture led by American investors.
The deal, approved by Donald Trump back in September, has now gained concrete details through internal filings.
ByteDance (China) will retain only a 20% stake. A joint venture comprising industry giants Silver Lake, Oracle, and Abu Dhabi–based investment fund MGX will acquire 45%. The remaining shares will be distributed among affiliates of ByteDance’s existing investors.
This move brings an end to the long-running dispute over the security of U.S. user data. Oracle already serves as TikTok’s technology partner, and the new ownership structure is designed to fully remove the service from Beijing’s influence while preserving its presence in the market under American capital control.
