🧠 ByteDance Goes All In
TikTok’s parent company is preparing a record expansion of its AI infrastructure. In 2026, ByteDance plans to spend around 160 billion yuan ($23 billion), with more than half allocated to the purchase of high-performance processors.
The company intends to acquire at least 20,000 Nvidia H200 chips. Deliveries to China could begin as early as February, ahead of the Chinese New Year.
Amid U.S. export restrictions and surging global demand, ByteDance is rushing to secure supply quotas. If exports are approved without additional limitations, the procurement budget could increase even further.
Beyond hardware purchases, the company is investing billions in leasing overseas data centers. This allows ByteDance to legally use top-tier Nvidia hardware to train AI models outside China.
Chinese tech giants are accelerating their efforts: while Nvidia plans to ship up to 80,000 chips in the first wave, ByteDance is already allocating budgets to capture the lion’s share of the market.
