Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Brendan Carr, presented the 2025 year-end report. The report outlines 75 key points, including a large-scale deregulation effort and a commitment to addressing media bias.

Key Achievements:

๐Ÿค Deal of the Year: The merger between Skydance and Paramount (CBS) was approved. The new owners have committed to eradicating political bias in news coverage and presenting a range of perspectives from across the ideological spectrum.

๐Ÿš€ Technological Leap: The transition to the NextGen TV standard (ATSC 3.0) has been accelerated, which aims to modernize free over-the-air television.

๐Ÿชฃ Rule Cleanup: 98 outdated regulations were removed (some of which were over 50 years old), including absurd rules related to telegraph communications and “rabbit-ear” antennas.

๐Ÿ—ฃ New Voices: 84 permits were granted for the construction of new television and radio stations.

Carr emphasized that in 2026, the FCC will continue to “operate at full capacity,” with a focus on media transparency and supporting local broadcasting.
