Media giant Canal+ has officially settled a long-running dispute with the French tax authorities.
The conflict concerned the VAT rate applicable to pay-TV and streaming services.
The group succeeded in confirming its right to apply a reduced VAT rate to its TV subscription services.
Canal+ will pay a total of โฌ363 million to the state. The payment schedule will be approved at a later date.
The company stated that it does not expect any new material adjustments as a result of future audits and is closing the issue of provisioning for this dispute.
The settlement comes at an important moment for the company, as Canal+ is actively scaling its international strategy and expanding its presence in the OTT services market.
