🧠 Smart TVs Have Become the Main Gateway to Video in the U.S.
A study by Parks Associates has confirmed the dominance of smart TVs: 61% of internet households in the United States use a Smart TV as their primary streaming device.
The popularity of set-top boxes, game consoles, and other external gadgets continues to decline.
Samsung’s Tizen OS maintains its lead, preferred by 34% of Smart TV owners.
Roku leads across all connected TV devices (including streaming players) with a 28% share. Over the past five years, Roku has made a strong push in the Smart TV segment, increasing its share from 8% to 18%.
The market is becoming increasingly fragmented, with LG, Vizio, and Google TV intensifying competition with the leaders.
Analysts note that the operating system has become the “point of entry” where the battle for advertising, subscriptions, and service integration is concentrated. Whoever controls the OS controls the entire user experience.
