📽 “Cheburashka 2” Cost RUB 1.5 Billion
The sequel about the adventures of the big-eared hero has officially become the biggest hit of the 2026 New Year holidays.
According to the Unified Automated Information System (EAIS), the budget of Dmitry Dyachenko’s film amounted to nearly RUB 1.5 billion—almost double the cost of the first installment.
Results as of January 14:
💰 Box office: over RUB 5.1 billion
👥 Audience: more than 2.7 million viewers
👁 Opening: 878,000 viewers on the very first day of release
Competition this year was fierce: “Buratino” and “Prostokvashino” were released at the same time, each grossing RUB 2.1 billion. Nevertheless, “Cheburashka 2” is confidently holding on to the top spot.
Producers attribute the success to a strong script and an unprecedented marketing campaign. Whether the sequel will manage to beat the first film’s historic record of RUB 6.7 billion should become clear very soon.
