🛷 2026 Winter Olympics to Be Broadcast Twitch-Style
French media group France Télévisions has announced the launch of a unique sports channel ahead of the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina.
The key feature is interactivity: the online platform will operate like Twitch, allowing viewers to chat live with commentators and experts during broadcasts.
The channel launches February 4th. Over 2,000 hours of live sports coverage are planned for 2026. After the Olympics, the service will continue with Roland Garros, Tour de France, and European Championships. Traditional TV channels France 2 and France 3 will provide nearly 24-hour Olympics coverage.
Despite ambitious plans, the group is in cost-cutting mode, targeting €150 million in savings. They’ve already sold rights to some Six Nations rugby matches to competitors, but promise to retain other sports assets.
