🧟♂️ Frankenstein Stands Up for Netflix
Guillermo del Toro’s new take on Frankenstein has become one of the major award-season triumphs, earning 9 Oscar nominations. What began as a risky project has turned into the director’s magnum opus.
Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Alfonso Cuarón, and Bradley Cooper have already expressed their admiration for the film. David Fincher recently joined them, calling it “an outstanding example of handcrafted personal expression.”
Numbers and theatrical run:
📌The film entered the top five most-watched titles on Netflix in its first five weeks.
📌Nearly 1,000 sold-out screenings were recorded in cinemas worldwide.
📌At the end of the month, Netflix will launch a limited theatrical re-release.
During a Q&A session, del Toro and Fincher spoke out in defence of streaming.
💬 “Cinema defines itself. It’s not the size of the screen, but the scale of the ideas,” said Guillermo.
Fincher went even further, calling Netflix “the future of cinema.” It seems Frankenstein has finally erased the line between “home” viewing and the big screen.
