๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป Latin America Is Taking Over Streaming

Latin American content is no longer niche โ€” it is now setting the rules of the global market.

PlumResearch research director Jonathan Broughton has presented striking statistics: since 2018, consumption of Chilean content has grown by 618%, and Peruvian content by 688%.

Traditional telenovelas are giving way to genre hybrids. The most successful projects now combine romance with thriller, crime with biography, or drama with music.

Viewers are captivated by social media thrillers and prestige adaptations of literary classics, such as One Hundred Years of Solitude.

Broughton also noted that platforms are moving away from standard release patterns. For example, shifting Loki premieres on Disney+ from Friday to Thursday radically changed audience habits, making Thursday one of the peak viewing days.

As catalogues become smaller but higher quality, Latin American authenticity is turning into a โ€œgold mineโ€ for streaming services.
