🏆 “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” Lead BAFTA 2026 Nominations

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced the list of contenders for the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards.

The main intrigue this year centers on two Warner Bros. projects that top the race by number of nominations.

Top contenders:

“One Battle After Another” — Paul Thomas Anderson’s political satire earned 14 nominations, placing it alongside classics like The King’s Speech and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

“Sinners” — Ryan Coogler’s historical horror film received 13 nominations, setting a BAFTA record for a film directed by a Black filmmaker. Both Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan received their first-ever BAFTA nominations.

Notable highlights:

Chloé Zhao (Gamneth) became the only woman nominated for Best Director this year. The film itself is up for 11 awards.

Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme) is competing for Best Actor for the second consecutive year. The movie also garnered 11 nominations.

Stellan SkarsgÄrd, at 74, earned his first-ever BAFTA nomination for Sentimental Value.

British success: Local indie hits I Swear, Pillion, and The Ballad of Wallis Island broke out beyond the “British-only” categories, scoring spots in the Best Screenplay and acting fields.

The awards ceremony will take place on February 22 in London, hosted by Alan Cumming.
