🏅 Richard Linklater Dominates the 2026 CĂ©sar Awards

The French Academy of Cinema has announced the nominees for the 51st CĂ©sar Awards. The biggest triumph belongs to Richard Linklater’s film New Wave.

This ode to the legendary era of French cinema received 10 nominations, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.

Leading contenders:

10 nominations: New Wave (dir. Richard Linklater)

8 nominations each: The Bonds That Unite Us (dir. Karin Tardieu), Case 137 (dir. Dominik Moll), and The Grand Arch (dir. Stéphane Demoustier)

7 nominations: Little Sister (dir. Hafsia Herzi)

This year’s Honorary CĂ©sar for Outstanding Achievement will go to Jim Carrey, joining the ranks of past honorees such as Christopher Nolan and Cate Blanchett.

The ceremony has been moved up by one day to avoid overlapping with a major charity telethon. It will take place on February 26 at Paris’s Olympia concert hall, with actress Camille Cottin (Call My Agent!) presiding over the event.

Nearly 5,000 Academy members will vote across 24 categories, and competition this year is especially fierce — more than 70% of eligible voters participated in the first round.
