🎖 “Stranger Things” Sets Records — But Bluey Remains Unstoppable
Nielsen has released its 2025 year-end streaming report (the ARTEYs), and the numbers are staggering: Americans streamed a record 16.7 trillion minutes, up 19% from 2024.
👑 The viewing king. The animated series Bluey topped the chart for the second consecutive year, with 45.2 billion minutes watched on Disney+. The evergreen Grey’s Anatomy ranked second (40.9 billion), followed by Stranger Things in third place.
🦸♂️ The phenomenon of the year. The final season of Stranger Things premiered only in late November yet amassed an incredible 25.1 billion minutes in just five weeks — enough to become the most‑watched original series of the year, surpassing Squid Game (22.4 billion).
🎞 Film hit. The animated feature K‑Pop Demon Hunters, co‑produced by Netflix and Sony, was the top‑streamed film with 20.5 billion minutes, doubling the viewership of Moana 2.
▶️ Streaming icon. Seth MacFarlane received a special award: his projects — including Family Guy — collectively racked up more than 60 billion minutes.
Fun fact. The most “binge‑watched” show of the year was the Western classic Gunsmoke (1955–1975). Viewers were so hooked that, on average, each person watched 241 episodes over the course of the year.
