Winter 1985. While the main characters enjoy “normal” lives and Dungeons & Dragons sessions, something terrifying awakens beneath the snowy streets of Hawkins.

The Duffer Brothers, creators of the original series, emphasized that this isn’t just a “cartoon version” of the show. Instead, it’s a project inspired by family animation of the 1980s and ’90s, featuring a unique visual style and tone.

Fans will see the entire core gang — Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max — but voiced by new actors.

Executive producer Shawn Levy promises the series will fill gaps in the mythology and chronology that didn’t make it into the main show. While the Duffers prepare a live‑action spin‑off as well, this animated entry offers a perfect way to satisfy nostalgia.
