The era of free streaming in Russia is fading. Research firm ICMR (GfK-Rus) has released Q4 2025 results, showing that nearly 80% of subscribers now pay for access to movies and series.
Just four years ago, one‑third of viewers watched for free. That share has now shrunk to 21%.
51% of urban residents use online cinemas, with 40% personally paying for subscriptions.
KinoPoisk remains the leader — used by 23% of city dwellers (of which 19% are paid subscribers).
