🇩🇪 German Film Box Office Soars Worldwide

Germany is experiencing a true cinema export boom. According to German Films, worldwide box office for German films and co-productions jumped to $300 million in 2025 — a 115% increase from the previous year.

The growth stems not only from domestic hits but also Germany’s status as a key partner for mid-budget Hollywood studio projects.

Box office leaders:

🔸 Colleen Hoover adaptation Remind Me ($90M)
🔸 Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme ($40.5M), filmed at Babelsberg Studios

Domestic hits:

🔸 Thriller September 5th ($8.2M)
🔸 Animation Stitchhead, which launched successfully in the U.S. for Halloween
🔸 The biopic Maria with Angelina Jolie from Berlin’s Komplizen Film earned $20M outside Germany.

Top markets for German films: Austria ($26M), France ($18.5M), and U.S. ($13M).
