๐Ÿ“น North American TV Production Grows for Second Year in a Row

After a prolonged downturn and widespread cutbacks in 2022, the North American scripted TV market has returned to growth.

According to Ampere Analysis, in 2025 the number of new scripted content commissions rose by 3%, while completely new projects jumped by 7%.

While the U.S. and Canada are increasing production, the international market is in decline โ€” orders outside North America fell 9%, with Western Europe hit hardest by budget shortages.

44% of all new commissions are adaptations, sequels, or franchise projects. For commercial broadcasters, that figure climbs to 57%, as producers avoid risks and favor recognizable brands.

Surprisingly, free-to-air commercial networks saw strong growth (+22% in commissions). For the first time in years, they are surpassing streaming platforms in scripted production activity.
