📉 Russia’s TV Series Boom Is Fading
According to KinoPoisk Pro Index data, in 2025 Russian viewers’ interest in TV series dropped by 8% compared to the previous year.
Domestic productions were hit hardest — attention to them fell by 16%, and to TV premieres by 19%.
For the first time since 2022, no Russian series made it into the top 3 of the rankings. The highest‑performing local title, Lilies of the Valley from Wink, only reached fifth place. Analysts attribute the decline to a shortage of major new TV releases.
However, other streaming platforms strongly disagree with this assessment. Wink reports rising viewership and growing popularity for its hits. Premier boasts a record 70% increase in revenue, while Kion notes that users are watching series 26% longer, suggesting the market is shifting from quantity to quality.
Experts believe such discrepancies in data are inevitable as long as the market relies on measurement tools owned by one of its players.
