🎺 Belarusian TV Channels Allowed to Use Music Without Extra Paperwork

TV channels included in Belarus’ mandatory basic package will now find it easier to work with music: they will be able to use tracks in their programs without obtaining the author’s prior consent, provided they pay the required remuneration.

Previously, obtaining permission from each individual author slowed down production. Now broadcasters can use music “here and now.”

Rights holders will not be left without income, as the law secures their right to fair compensation.

The measure is being introduced to reduce the administrative burden on state-owned media.

According to Viachaslau Danilovich, deputy chair of the Standing Commission on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Belarus, this technical solution is driven by the speed of modern TV production, where traditional approval chains often become a bottleneck.
