🥇 Olympics Help WBD Grow Its Audience
The start of the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo has brought unprecedented audience growth for Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD).
Over the first four days of competition, early data show that Europeans are watching winter sports more actively than ever.
Viewership on HBO Max and discovery+ is up 102% compared with Beijing 2022.
The number of paying subscribers who watched the Games in the first three days has already exceeded the total audience for the entire 2022 Olympics.
Defying the general downward trend in traditional TV viewing, linear channels Eurosport and TNT Sports posted a 33% increase. In the UK, interest jumped by 60%, and in Germany by 50%.
Olympic viewers are also actively watching series: leading titles on HBO Max include “Heated Rivalry” and season two of “Pitt.”
Andrew Georgiou, President of WBD Sports Europe, noted that the status of being “the only place where you can see every medal” has fully paid off. Coverage of the Games will continue through February 22.
