🎤 Industry Standard for Video Archive Management Presented at CSTB 2026

As part of the business program at CSTB.PRO.MEDIA 2026, MSK‑IX Director of Media Platforms Grigory Kuzin and Mediabaza platform manager Dmitry Rassadin presented an expert report on optimizing the costs of storing and distributing video content.

The core idea of the presentation was a shift from the concept of a simple “cloud warehouse” to a managed asset model, where savings are achieved through service automation and the elimination of redundant file duplication. The main challenge for today’s media companies working with large catalogues is a “break” in the production chain, in which the same content is repeatedly copied for different departments and partners. MSK‑IX experts proposed an industry solution based on the national Mediabaza platform, where management is built around a “media product card” — a unique industry ID.

This approach allows content to be stored not as a set of disparate files but as a structured object that includes metadata, rights, versions, and access logic. It eliminates confusion around current versions and significantly reduces storage costs by removing unnecessary copies. Special attention in the report was given to the built‑in intelligent services of the MDisk repository, which help cut operating expenses.

Key MDisk services:

📌 AI compliance checks: automatic analysis of content for compliance with Russian legislation, with detailed reporting.

📌 Technical control: automatic verification of file parameters on ingest and checksum validation to protect against tampering.

📌 Integrated services: auto‑subtitling and automated transcoding.

💬 “Implementing these tools at the storage stage allows errors to be identified before they reach distribution, which makes fixing defects significantly cheaper,” explained Dmitry Rassadin.

The Mediabaza platform is positioned as a vendor‑neutral ecosystem. For example, in the cloud playout segment, users can choose solutions from four different companies, and in AdTech from five, ensuring flexibility of choice and protecting media companies from dependence on a single provider.

Storage security is ensured by a closed platform perimeter with mandatory legal-entity verification, two‑factor authentication, and role‑based access control for team workflows. This setup makes it possible to safely involve external contractors (translators, editors, designers) without risking unauthorized file distribution.

💬 “An archive is not just a pile of files, but an asset with context. When storage, verification services, and delivery tools are combined in a single industry framework, savings arise not only on gigabytes, but in the very logic of the business process,” Kuzin concluded.
