⚖️ Sony Pictures Demands Removal of Its Hits from AI Platform Seedance 2.0

The world’s biggest film studios have united in a powerful front against Chinese tech giant ByteDance.

Sony Pictures has become the fifth studio—after Disney, Paramount, Warner Bros., and Netflix—to officially demand an end to what it calls the AI network’s “egregious” copyright violations.

The studio insists that franchises such as Breaking Bad and the Spider-Man universe be immediately removed from Seedance 2.0’s training data.

Seedance 2.0 users have already flooded social media with AI-generated superhero battle scenes and alternative endings to Game of Thrones and Stranger Things.

Netflix has threatened ByteDance with immediate legal action if the demands are not met.

Despite Hollywood’s outrage, punishing the Chinese company quickly will be difficult. Lawyers warn that serving a lawsuit through China’s Ministry of Justice under the Hague Convention could take anywhere from 18 to 24 months.

While ByteDance has promised to strengthen its “protective barriers,” its AI continues to use actors’ likenesses and studio-owned intellectual property without authorization—setting a dangerous precedent for the entire media industry.
