🎬 Gothic drama and a basketball-playing goat score big at the box office

The global box office this past weekend celebrated the success of two hits: Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights crossed the 150 million dollar mark, while animated feature GOAT passed 100 million dollars.

Wuthering Heights: The R-rated gothic drama has become a genuine surprise. Overseas, the film is performing even better than in the U.S., with international grosses reaching 91.7 million dollars (for a total of 151.7 million dollars). With a budget of 80 million dollars, the project has already secured a strong return.

GOAT: Sony’s original animated film about a goat who dreams of becoming a basketball star has earned 102.3 million dollars worldwide. The top-grossing territory is the United Kingdom, with 14.5 million dollars.

Flop of the week: Thriller Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo, is struggling. On a 90 million dollar budget, its global haul stands at just 46.3 million dollars – a disastrous result for Amazon MGM.

Meanwhile, China is experiencing a genuine boom: comedy Pegasus 3 is dominating the holiday weekend, with its box office already estimated at more than 200 million dollars.
