🎬 IMAX sums up Chinese New Year box office in China

IMAX has reported its box office results in China for the Lunar New Year holiday week, with total takings reaching 28 million dollars.

Although this did not surpass last year’s record of 53 million dollars set by the hit Ne Zha 2, the figures confirm stable demand for the premium format.

Holiday standouts:

✅ Pegasus 3: The week’s biggest winner. Han Han’s thriller earned 24 million dollars in IMAX theatres during its first week, while its total box office in China has already reached 373 million dollars.

✅ Blade of the Guardians: The martial arts action film brought in 3.3 million dollars at IMAX screens.

✅ Scare Out: The thriller added another 500,000 dollars in IMAX grosses.

IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond noted that the company’s performance in China is an important indicator for the global film market in 2026, adding that Pegasus 3 will soon roll out in IMAX in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.
