🤡 Film goofs in the spotlight: from Starbucks cups to the Bridgerton band-aid
Even the most expensive series aren’t immune to mistakes that slip past the crew but not the eagle-eyed fandom.
This time, the focus is on season four of Bridgerton, where viewers spotted a flesh-colored band-aid on Katie Leung’s character’s ear – presumably used to hide a modern piercing, even though bandages didn’t exist in the Regency era.
The top on-screen anachronisms:
🩹 Bridgerton. In addition to the band-aid, fans noticed yellow road markings on a cobblestone street in season one – lines that only appeared in Britain in the 1950s.
🥤 Game of Thrones. The infamous coffee cup next to Daenerys. HBO later joked, “Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea. This was a mistake,” and digitally removed it from subsequent versions.
👖 The Mandalorian. The accidental “Jeans Guy” in the background of a shootout, wearing jeans and a T-shirt. Disney later had to erase him with digital tools.
🍾 Downton Abbey. A promo photo featuring a plastic water bottle on a mantelpiece. The cast turned the blunder into a charity campaign supporting WaterAid.
🏈 Mad Men. In an episode set in 1968, characters refer to the championship game as the “Super Bowl,” even though the name wasn’t officially adopted until the following year.
Set-dressing and editing errors often become viral memes, forcing studios to rush out corrected versions of episodes for reruns and streaming.
