๐บ Giant TV Screens Are Taking Over the Market
An Omdia study predicts minimal growth in global TV sales over the next five years. However, one segment is expected to see explosive growth: screens 80 inches and larger.
Shipments of these giants are forecast to increase by 44%.
The main reasons:
๐ธ Price Reductions: Manufacturers, especially Chinese brands, are lowering prices to gain market share in the premium segment. This is making large screens more affordable for the average consumer.
๐ธ Technological Breakthroughs: New backlighting technologies, such as RGB, are improving picture quality and are expected to become cheaper over time, similar to what happened with Mini LED.
Omdia analysts believe that by 2029, shipments of 80”+ TVs will exceed 13 million units. The primary markets will remain China and North America, but demand is also expected to grow in Europe, where consumers have traditionally preferred smaller screens.
