⚽️ Football carnival on Netflix: three new Brazilian documentaries
Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Netflix has announced a strong slate of documentary projects dedicated to Brazilian football.
The streamer is rolling out three unique stories, ranging from the personal journey of a legend to the backstage world of amateur leagues.
Ronaldinho: One of a Kind (April 16).**** This three-part documentary charts the path of a boy from Porto Alegre to winning the Ballon d’Or. Viewers can expect exclusive archival footage as well as rare access to the former Barcelona star’s life today.
USA ’94: Brazil’s Return to Glory (May 7). A deep dive into the country’s fourth World Cup title after years in the wilderness. The film features personal video recordings shot by the players themselves during the 1994 tournament.
The Root of the Game (June 8). A project about São Paulo’s biggest amateur tournament, the Super Copa Pioneer. It offers an unvarnished look at the dreams of players and coaches for whom football is a chance to change their lives.
