While the world awaits the premiere of Super Mario: Galactic Movie, Pixarâs Hoppers is firmly holding onto the top spot.
Over the past weekend, the film grossed $59.5 million worldwide, bringing its running total to $164.7 million. In just 10 days of release, Hoppers has become the yearâs highestâgrossing animated film, surpassing Sonyâs GOAT: Dream Big.
Global success of Hoppers
The film has been the top nonâlocal release in nearly every market across Europe, Asia and Latin America. In Japan, it notched the secondâbest postâpandemic opening for an original animated feature.
Secondâweekend declines were mild at -37% domestically and -17% overseas, outperforming Zootopia and Ralph Breaks the Internet.
Top markets: UK ($10.1 million), Mexico ($7.6 million) and Germany ($7.3 million). Next week, Hoppers will expand to China and the Middle East.
Other notable box office developments
Reminders of Him: Colleen Hooverâs novel adaptation opened with $28.2 million. Germany led overseas markets at $2.5 million, double the performance of Where the Crawdads Sing.
Scream 7: The slasher has officially become the franchiseâs highestâgrossing entry worldwide at $176.9 million, surpassing the 1996 original.â
