🇨🇳 Pegasus 3 holds China box office lead for fourth straight week

The racing comedy Pegasus 3 continues to dominate Chinese theaters. Over the past weekend, the film earned another $10.9 million (77.7 million yuan), maintaining the top spot for a fourth consecutive week.

Weekend results by the numbers:

Pegasus triumph. Directed by Han Han and starring Shen Teng, the film’s cumulative gross is nearing $600 million ($596.8 million). The story of a veteran racer leading an underdog team at an international rally has become a massive hit.

Martial arts and espionage. Blades of the Guardians took second place ($5.8 million weekend, $190.3 million total). Zhang Yimou’s spy thriller Scare Out rounded out the podium with a cumulative $182.1 million.

Newcomers and holdovers. Sony’s animated comedy GOAT: Dream Big debuted in fourth ($3.1 million). The top five was completed by the evergreen Neighbor Bears, which reached $146.1 million.

Despite individual hits, China’s overall 2026 box office stands at $1.58 billion YTD, down 52.9% from the record-breaking previous year.
