🎦 May holidays to feature no Hollywood releases

For the third year running, Russian cinema chains will support domestic films by temporarily halting unofficial screenings of new Hollywood releases.

The “Clean Screens” campaign will run from May 1 to 10.

What won’t screen during the holidays:

  • The long-awaited biopic Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua about Michael Jackson’s life
  • The sequel to the cult dramedy The Devil Wears Prada starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway

The initiative aims to clear schedules for Russian premieres and maximize their box office during the extended holiday break. Last year, a similar 15-day pause held back global releases like Thunderbolts.

For audiences, this means no chance to see the King of Pop or Miranda Priestly’s new adventures on the big screen — even as pre-show filler — until after the holiday moratorium ends.
